My provider told me that my labs would be ready in 1 week so I called and they were not ready. Why?
While we do a number of lab tests in-house, those that have to be sent to a reference lab generally take longer. Certain tests such as HPV typing from a pap smear can take up to three weeks for results to be ready. You will be notified as soon as we have the results of all your lab tests, and your provider has reviewed and signed off on them.
I had several different labs. Why can’t you call me as you get results?
If you have some normal results that come back quickly but other labs are taking longer, we will again wait to contact you once we have all of your test results. Your provider needs to see all of the lab results before determining your plan of care.
PHONE CALL FACTS. Wonder why you have to wait on the phone so long when you call in? Our switchboard averages about 400 calls per day. Over 100 of those calls are for our nurse triage staff, and many of those calls are for lab results and prescription refills.
How long is too long to hear from us for results?
Normal labs are generally published to the patient portal or sent through the mail. Abnormal labs will always be called or in some cases, you may receive a letter. Things can happen so, if you have not received any communication from us within 4 weeks, by all means send us a message through the portal or give us a call. If you have been advised that your results require timely follow-up and you have not heard from us, please call.

Prescription refills
If you have an existing prescription, and you need it refilled, always call your pharmacy first. Most pharmacies have automated lines so you can call at your convenience. If you are out of refills, they will contact us. Requests for routine refills (birth control pills, etc.) will be handled promptly, but please allow at least 48 hours. Make sure you plan ahead! Most pharmacies have automated lines that will call or send you a text message when your prescription is ready. Make sure to ask them how you will be notified. There is no need to call our office for any refills with the exception of certain classes of drugs that we are not allowed to e-prescribe. Here for an appointment and need refills? Be sure to let your provider know before you leave, and in most cases, the prescription will be at your pharmacy the same day. Did you forget to tell your provider you needed refills? No worries, call your pharmacy, and they will handle it for you. Your prescription was called to your regular pharmacy, but you need it changed to another pharmacy. You don’t need to call us. Simply call your regular pharmacy and ask them to transfer the prescription to your pharmacy of choice. They are happy to do this for you.
Take the time to use technology - sign up for a portal account
Most of our providers will publish normal labs to the portal. You will receive a notification when there is something to view. No waiting on the phone in hopes that your results might be ready. You can also send a message to your provider through your portal account at any time of the day or night. Signing up is easy. Go to: www.wendoverobgyn.com, click on “My Patient Page,” and follow the instructions to create an account. If you have questions, see one of our front desk staff for assistance.

Severe Weather Information
If inclement weather conditions occur prior to the Practice's scheduled opening time, and conditions require us to delay or close the office for the day, we will have a recording on our phone system to let you know when we expect to open. We will also notify WXII 12 and WFMY 2 as to our late opening or closing. The TV stations may not show medical office closings on screen, but they will show them on their web pages under “Closings - Medical.” Both stations have the option of letting you sign up for alerts by registering your e-mail address or mobile phone number on their web page.
For your safety, please do not come to the office without first verifying that we are open.
If the office has to delay opening or must close for the day, one of our nurse midwives will be available by phone to handle URGENT problems. If you have an immediate problem that cannot wait until the office opens, dial our main number (336-273-2835) to be connected to the on-call nurse midwife's pager so you can leave your number for a return call.
If you have an appointment that is affected by our closing or delay, we will contact you as quickly as possible once we reopen to get you rescheduled. Please try to avoid calling the office right after we reopen for routine issues, as you will experience higher than normal hold times.
Our Specialty
Our practice is geared to the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology—the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of women's health issues. Our physicians have completed at least four years of special training after medical school, and they regularly take courses to keep up with the latest advances in this field. Board certification comes from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. Our midwives and nurse practitioners are certified in their specialties as well. All our provider credentials are available in the office, and you are invited to examine them. You can also visit the Our Providers section on this website, and get detailed information on each of our providers.
Although our practice specializes in pregnancy care and gynecologic conditions of the female, we frequently take care of minor and unrelated problems when you are here for one of your visits. However, we encourage you to establish yourself with your own primary care physician to handle your non-gynecologic care. If you do not have a primary care physician, we will be happy to provide you the names of qualified doctors and will cooperate with them in any way regarding your medical care.
Obstetric and Gynecologic Care
As a group practice, we assure you continuity of care. This means a physician is always available. When one of us is on call at a hospital, one or more of the others is available here at the office seeing patients.
You may select one of our physicians or one of our certified nurse midwives as your primary obstetric provider, who will then oversee and coordinate your prenatal care. Our group shares responsibilities for your obstetrical care; however, your office visits will usually be scheduled with your primary physician. In some circumstances, your physician may want you to rotate with one or more of their partners. All midwife patients will be rotated between the two midwives in our group.
For periodic gynecologic checkups and scheduled visits, you may see a physician or midwife of your choice. There may be times when one of those providers is not in the office. In that case, one of our other providers will be available to care for you.
